THERAPY AS IT SHOULD BE
The Diagnostic labels and methods of which we as clinicians approach treatment, are as rapidly changing as the world around us. That's why we believe in treating the individual; not just a diagnosis. Therapy should be accessible for the client, not merely in a physical sense, but in a expressive one. Building rapport through dialogue and relatability, is essential for identifying sticking points, working through harmful narratives, and directing the flow.
As the roots of any natural system, our problems are often interwoven with their solutions. At the beginning of treatment, goals are established, but the client's experiences, outside the micro-chasm of therapy are too frequently overlooked. I utilize a directive based approach, so that the client can check in with themselves, and implement strategies and skills to their specific environments. I believe no one can grow without support, and so encourage family sessions (when appropriate). .
